Episodes 22 & 23 unveil “The Stagger Twins Radio Hour“! Neil Leyton interviews Rich Jones on his “single minded” approach to playing rock n roll, the rise and fall and rise again of The Black Halos, and going all the way from playing guitar in Flash Bastard to Michael Monroe all the while perfecting the art of songwriting…
Leyton muses, “I’ve known Rich for over 20 years now… pretty much half our lives, haha. It seems like an awful long time for such little musical output really, when you consider how much we’ve done together over the years. Rich has been an incredibly good friend from getting a band line-up together for me out West in Vancouver back in 2000 (with archival proof now up on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uygnn026sF4) to touring all up and down the UK with me, sometimes with Ky Anto coming along also like that time we ended up recording some songs up in Aberdeen… playing in Amsterdam… LOTS of partying all the while… getting me a job at Enterprise II rehearsal studios, at the Arts Theatre in London… also co-writing songs with me in London, three of which would end up on The Betrayal of the Self (“When a Ghost Flies Young”, “Automatically” and “Pleasures for Ophelia”)… and inviting me on to that Tyla tour after Tom Spenser quit… what a roller coaster! But then I also feel like I left a few projects fall by the wayside, like not really finishing the Dead Fashion Brigade EP properly (my huge thanks and apologies to Ginger for not finishing it properly), and never following through on writing that Stagger Twins album we talked about every so often… I suppose there is still time!” Until then, there is this trip down memory lane…
