Neil Leyton’s recorded output started during his high school years, between 4-track demos on Fostex X-26 and Tascam Portastudios to the first studio recordings at Studio 92, engineered by Norm Barker. Leyton credits Barker for his early studio learnings, and also started producing other artists, such as Sharpkid (Canada) and Pete Marquis’ Silky (Portugal), at Studio 92 with Norm Barker as engineer and mixer in the early 90s.

This Discography includes the studio information precisely because Leyton believes studios to be of primary importance to the recorded output. During his London years, recording digitally on ProTools either at his Camden flat or Enterprise studios (ie. rehearsal rooms, not recording studios) the recordings revealed a decrease in quality in his recorded output that he later regretted in several interviews – deleting three digitally-recorded albums from streaming services and ceasing to record altogether for a number of years before returning to proper studios for the new Lusitanian Ghosts project. In 2021, Lusitanian Ghosts will release their second album, recorded on analogue tape at Hamburg’s Clouds Hill Studios.
“Of course, studios can’t be operated without recording engineers, and over the course of my life I have been fortunate to work with many amazing people who have always taken the time and had the patience to answer my curious queries! I want to thank Norm Barker (Studio 91), Nikki Servos (Manta), Nick Holmes (Halla), Micke Borg (Acetone) and the late great Nick Blagona, mastering engineer at Metalworks, for all they taught me over the years.” – Neil Leyton.
