Neil Leyton’s latest single “Ordinary Matter” blends Krautrock groove with Detroit rock swagger — a sassy, motorik spinoff from The Conscience Pilate’s latest singles, released on Pond Inc., Edward Pond’s netlabel. It will be followed on August 29th by Edward Pond’s own Souvenirs single “Birds in the Airport”, as Pond Inc. establishes a new feast of friends around The Conscience Pilate, Souvenirs, Leyton’s solo work as well as Tracy Jones and other friends… you will most likely see TCP bandmates Stacy Stray, along with Mick McKenzie, Justin “Juice” Kadis, Tim Timleck and other friends surface on the next Pond Inc. releases… stay tuned and meanwhile here is “Ordinary Matter”, with artwork by Edward Pond and featuring Neil Leyton (vocals, bass, guitars), Johnny Sousa (drums), mixed and mastered by Nelson Canoa.

“This was written way back when I moved to Portugal, in my Setúbal home studio… at the time I released a fans-only compilation, called “Metacognitive Apperceptions”, with some drums I had recorded in London with Rich Ragany… but Rags and I never finished his debut album, although I used some of those drum takes from Enterprise studios to write some new songs, like “Godspeed to You” and “Ordinary Matter”. Then last year I finally finished the song with Johnny on drums, at Canoa Studios… this is the longest it has ever taken me to finish a song, I think! 2009-2025. Wow.”
All good things come to those who drink.
But not too much. C’mon now.
